The power of learning!

Experts tell us that if we spend 20 minutes a day (every day) in deep study of a single topic for 1 year, we too will become an expert in that topic. My goal for this upcoming year is to study how to blog properly and how to write internet articles.

If anyone has suggestions on where to get this information please let me know!

Fabulous Fridays

Why are Fridays always so fabulous? Could it be because the work week is over? I think that may be a small part of it... 'cuz we all know we still work on the weekend... we get the yard done, clean the house, get caught up on laundry, etc... so what is it?
I think it's two things, at least it is for me. 1) You get to spend more time with loved ones! 2) You have a chance for change. You are doing something different than the last 4/5 days.

9 Ways to Positivity

Here are 9 ways I have found that help me be more positive (even on bad days)
1. Stop watching the news first thing in the morning! It will only depress you more. Trust me... if the world is going to end today, someone will stop and tell you!
2. Laugh More! You should laugh at least 5 minutes a day (smiling for 20 minutes in row will do the same as laughing for 5)
3. Start listening to comedians. Preferably clean comedians - if you can find one.
4. Meditate. To start with... close your eyes and imagine a small child laughing for 30 seconds. If this doesn't put a smile in your heart... watch kids laughing on YouTube...
5. Read/Listen to positive/motivational books/Cd's.
6. Go for a quick paced walk. This will balance the toxins in your body, help you stay healthy and possibly help you lose weight.
7. Practice Alpha breathing for 3 minutes every morning. This will get you the oxygen you need for your brain and body. When have enough oxygen you can think more clearly and thus solve problems in a more expedient way.
8. Drink water. Yes even I had to give up my 6 pack of Diet Mt. Dew everyday. 8 oz of water in 5 minutes create 2 endorphins that help lower stress levels.
9. Do something nice for someone special! YOU!!! Take care of you first so you have more to give to others.

Gifts of Love

I had the opportunity last night to listen to (yes I said listen to - cell phones are my friend) people receivning a gift of a lifetime.

Three weeks ago a family from Salt Lake was visiting Moab. They were seperated from one of their family members, their sweet little doggie! After searching for days they finally gave up and returned home. They then hired a "pet detective" (I didn't know there was such a thing) to continue the search.

This past weekend a sweet little puppy wondered into the campground Ed and the boys were staying at. After checking out the collar they called the owners and informed them they had found their dog. Finding that they lived only blocks from our home, they kept the dog for the weekend - taking very good care of him and making sure he didn't run off.

Last night they returned him to his family. Tears of joy were shed. A reward was offered. But in the true spirit of love the boys turned it down, saying "Money is not an option when you find a loved one and knowing the dog and family were reunited was gift enough".

Now how did I hear all of this. I just happened to call Ed just as the reunion was taking place. He said, "Here listen to this". I couldn't see the tears but I could hear the voices and I'm so glad I was able to bank this in my memory. I am so proud of the boys and thrilled for the family.
